More Work Needed on Danish Laws

Demark is in the process of implementing new online casino gambling legislation that will bring the country into compliance with European Union trade policies and the European Commission’s Treaty. The Commission is extremely active in the European market right now with the monitoring of internet gambling compliance by EU member states. Denmark has long been one of the most stubborn of the nation’s and negotiations efforts have not worked over the past several years. This year though, the Danish legislators released draft regulations that will introduce a more liberal and open gambling industry that more easily welcomes foreign online casinos into the Danish gambling market.

The European Gambling and Betting Association has opposed the first draft of regulations and the Commission has a hold on any implementation efforts for three months. Although the Danish legislators are attempting to introduce more effective and compliant online casino gambling legislation, there are quite a few issues that must first be addressed. The EGBA is a highly respected gambling authority in the European market and the organization has sent a detailed proposal of objections to the Danish legislators about these proposed regulations. The Commission certainly welcomes the feedback as well. At this point in European legislation, help is welcome in ensuring that countries implement fair legislation that fairly regulates online casinos from other EU member-states. The Commission is committed to ensuring that the draft legislation does not become law until the main points have been addressed and fixed.

The fact that the Danish online casino gambling regulations need so many revisions and changes means that there will certainly be a delay in the implementation of any new Danish law. The Commission and other major gambling bodies are currently detailing the issues when the Danish laws, at that point the legislation will go back to the Danish government for revisions and then again to the Commission for further consideration.
